10-DAY TOUR

After visiting Kyrgyzstan on multiple occasions, exploring the land by vehicle, foot, and horseback, I created this 10-day itinerary to share with fearless travellers who are driven by curiosity, adventure, and a desire to hear the world’s stories.

Over 10 days we will travel from the capital city of Bishkek to three different high altitude lakes all over the country. We will visit and stay with nomadic families who have preserved their traditions over thousands of years. We will ride the local horses through the mountains, witness the bond of a hunter and his eagle, and savour the rich flavours of traditional Kyrgyz cuisine. Evenings will be spent sharing stories and laughs over local drinks—piva (beer) and vodka.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1

Arrive in Bishkek, where your driver will be waiting to greet you at Manas Airport.
After checking into the hotel, we’ll gather for a group dinner—your first taste of Kyrgyzstan and a chance to meet your fellow travelers.
Day 2

Begin the day at Kyrgyzstan’s largest bazaar, a bustling local market full of colour, culture, and flavour.
After exploring, we head to the town of Kochkor, here we will have lunch and prepare to head off on our three-day horse trek to Son Kul Lake—a true journey into the heart of Kyrgyz tradition. Spending our first night in the valley of Kilemche.
Day 3

After breakfast, we continue riding our stallions through rolling hills and pine forests, passing through Jalgyz Karagai.
From there, we journey on to meet our second nomadic family, who will welcome us into their lives in the remote summer pasture of Djaman Echki.
Day 4

As the sun rises, we jump back in the saddle and ride across high mountain passes toward the vast Batay Aral Valley.
Tonight, we’ll camp beside the shimmering shores of Son Kul Lake, surrounded by silence, stars, and open sky.
Day 5

Today we say goodbye to our stallions, back in our 4×4s and head towards the town of Naryn to share a meal at a local homestay. On the way we will drive past the waterfall canyon of teskei.
In the afternoon we head to At-bashi where we will be staying the night.
Day 6

Today, we jump into our 4×4 and venture deep into the Tian Shan Mountains.
Winding through rugged terrain and dramatic landscapes, we make our way to a remote yurt camp—our home for the next two nights, surrounded by the wild beauty of Kyrgyzstan.
Here is where we will see the display of Kyrgyzstan’s national game, Kok Boru, followed by a big feast with our host family.
Day 7

After a hearty Nomads breakfast, we put our hiking shoes on and head off for the majestic Kel Suu Lake.
Once there, we'll take time to soak in the awe-inspiring views, enjoy a peaceful picnic by the water, and—if you're feeling bold—take a refreshing dip in the icy lake.
Day 8

Today, we journey to the famous Issyk Kul Lake, crossing scenic landscapes as we make our way to its sparkling shores. After a long day on the road, we’ll be warmly welcomed by a local Kyrgyz family.
The evening unfolds with a traditional folklore show and a homemade Kyrgyz dinner—a true cultural feast.
Day 9

Today, we witness the ancient art of eagle hunting.
In the morning, a local berkutchi will demonstrate the powerful bond between hunter and eagle. Afterward, we’ll relax by the shores of Issyk Kul, soaking in the sun and scenery.
As the day winds down, we head to Ak-Sai Canyon to toast our final sunset with a cold local beer.
Day 10

Our final day begins with the journey back to Bishkek.
On the way, there’s an optional stop to explore the historic Burana Tower — a chance to stretch your legs and take in one last glimpse of Kyrgyzstan’s rich past. Once in the city, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
